Head of Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health of West Kalimantan province, Abdul Manaf Mustafa said, Distankeswan has coordinated with the Cross Border Post (PLB) in Entikong, Sangau District, West Kalimantan to ban all kinds of birds and animals coming from Malaysia to Indonesia.

"Do not accept poultry from outside, either from countries including Malaysia from Java anyway. Therefore, it is very risky," said Abdul Manaf, on Monday (01.07.13).

According to Abdul Manaf, the role of the military as border security is needed in anticipation of the entry of birds and animals from Malaysia.

However, Distankeswan Kalbar also will deploy a team to the border to help the military in detecting dangerous virus entry. "We are working with border security TNI (Pamtas), from entering poultry from Malaysia," said Abdul Manaf.

Abdul Manaf adds, West Kalimantan provincial government has banned the entry of poultry from outside the area since 2008. "It lasted for four years, the ban has not been lifted to anticipate the spread of bird flu," said Abdul Manaf.
