Health authorities have stepped up monitoring for a new respiratory illness similar to the deadly SARS virus.This comes after another patient infected with the novel coronavirus died earlier this week in Britain, bringing the number of deaths to six out of the 12 people infected worldwide.
The Hospital Authority's Chief Infection Control Officer, Dr Dominic Tsang, said staff at public hospitals will isolate any suspected patients immediately, including those suffering from severe pneumonia. |
