TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:National Commission for Zoonosis Control secretary Emil Agustiono suspects the new mutation of avian influenza type H5N1 clade 2.3.2 was brought to Indonesia for bioterrorism purposes.
There are such indications, said Emil at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economys office on Wednesday, January 9.
Emil added that the new virus seemed to be aimed at certain parts of society to create instability in the national economy and threaten food security. Bioterrorists apply non-traditional actions by spreading infectious diseases. We must handle this carefully,Ă¢€ said Emil.
Emil explained that bioterrorism via the avian flu virus still needed further scientific investigation. Emil added that the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) has stepped in to investigate the situationĂ¢n. BIN is also a member of the Zoonosis National Commission. http://www.tempointeractive.com/hg/nasional/2013/01/10/brk,20130110-453292,uk.html
