Cases of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) type H7N9 were reported in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces in March 2013. See Health.

There are occasional incidents of influenza transmitted to humans from birds and pigs. Outbreaks are usually confined to rural areas and infection is believed to arise from close contact with infected birds or animals. An outbreak of Avian Influenza (bird flu) type H7N9 occurred in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces in March 2013: there has been no evidence of human-human transmission of H7N9. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/china/health
