Bird flu confirmed

RUPANDEHI, APR 27 -
Bird flu has been confirmed on two poultry farms in Pokharvindi VDC in Rupandehi, authorities at the District Livestock Office (DLO) here said. DLO Chief Dr Laxman Bahadur Dhakal said samples from the farms—Sandip poultry farm and Laxmi poultry farm—were sent to Kathmandu for tests after chickens started dying. Following the confirmation on Tuesday, Dhakal said 337 chickens from Sandip poultry farm were slaughtered, while a technical team was dispatched to destroy infected chicken at the Laxmi poultry farm. He said samples from five other poultry farms have been sent to Kathmandu for tests.
