After Chitwan‚ bird flu hits Nawalparasi hard

NAWALPARASI: After the poultry capital Chitwan was hit by bird flu on Wednesday another incident has been reported in the Mukundaupr, Nawalparasi on Thursday.According to Dr Bodhraj Adhikari of the National Bird Disease Research Laboratory, they sent a crew to Mekh Bahadur Ale’s farm in Nawalparsai after they received information about the suspicious deaths of more than 600 fowls.

The sample after being tested in the Bird Disease Research Laboratory showed positive results of the virus (H5N1).

The crew under Adhikari culled all 1600 fowls in the farm and buried them under the earth, and assured the farmers about the disposal since the farmers were not allowed to do so on their own.

The team then cleaned the farm, destroyed all bird food and dumped bird waste to avoid the virus transmission to other places.http://www.thehimalayantimes.com/fullNews.php?headline=After+Chitwan%E2%80%9A+bird+flu+hits+Nawalparasi+hard+&NewsID=371620
