Sacrifice almost half a million birds from influenza in central Mexico

Bud does not affect the production of meat or eggs, because infected animals are fattened for meat production


A total of 486,000 broilers from five farms in the Mexican state Guanajuato (center) belonging to avicultor Bachoco, will be sacrificed after detecting H7N3 avian influenza, official sources reported Friday.

On Wednesday night, the poultry farmer alerted authorities of possible outbreak on their farms and early Friday were ready the results confirmed the presence of the H7 strain of avian influenza, said at a press conference Silverio Rojas Villegas, in behalf of the Department of Agriculture, and Javier Usabiaga Arroyo, president of the local Rural Development Commission...
