Portugal triggered surveillance mechanisms recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), as part of a potentially fatal virus diagnosed in 12 people worldwide. This is the virus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Directorate General of Health admits that the risk is small, because the virus is not spread, ie, it is not known whether it will arrive in Portugal or will involve preventive measures. The virus was detected last year in the Middle East, and cases have arisen in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Pakistan. WHO announced however that the UK reported a new case of infection, which makes up to three people with these viruses registered in the country during this month are all familiar. Among the 12 cases confirmed by WHO, there are records of five dead. Experts Britons admit that this new virus could be transmitted between humans. http://rr.sapo.pt/informacao_detalhe.aspx?fid=1&did=97039
