DRC: 18 deaths caused by hemorrhagic fever Ebola (WHO)

(Xinhua) - A total of 25 cases of Ebola have been identified in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since the second week of August, including 18 deaths, announced Tuesday the World Health Organization (WHO).

"Of these, 18 people died and eight cases were confirmed by the laboratory of the Research Institute of Virus in Uganda (Uganda Virus Research Institute) located in Entebbe," said Tarik Jasarevic, spokesman for the WHO.

Cases were reported in the towns of Dungu and Isiro, he added.

"The Congolese Ministry of Health is working closely with WHO and Médecins Sans Frontières," said the spokesman for the WHO.

"The epidemic in the DRC is not associated with that s' is declared in Uganda because the strains are of different origins (Uganda, Sudan and Ebola type DRC Ebola Bundibugyo type)," said the door-word.
