Most stories I have seen so far, are repeats with nothing new to add. This happens when the lockdown is on. When we have to wait 10 days to even hear of the case, you pretty much can guess the only reports are carefully orchestrated.
This is about the same amount of time there was before the 2 Chinese BF patients were reported.
Cambodia has a slightly better record and actually tell you some people are sick or dead. 6 people in a couple of weeks leads me to surely believe there are more than that. That is a funny development, considering that Indonesia has hundreds of thousands of birds dying, but only 2 or 3 reports of a suspected case of BF..that soon dropped off the radar.
They keep saying ducks only are dying, but there are many reports on this site telling of the chickens and other birds.
Egypt has had a few reports of sick people in the past few weeks and many reports of dead birds..but understandably have a few more pressing concerns.
Vietnam has been reporting many dead birds on the border with Cambodia and have been watching the border very closely, but they cannot watch everywhere in the jungle.
Nepal has a problem too. Many outbreaks in the past month, bad management of outbreaks and farmers that sell or hide the infected birds. Sounds like Vietnam..
Being for the benefit of Mr.Kite, I see no reports on any of the above from the U.S. CDC, State dept, no Warden messages, no Travel notices, no mentions on television, not a single note about any of it, at any Embassy website.
To be fair, the W.H.O. has been reporting on some of these outbreaks, although I wouldn't actually say in a timely fashion.. 10 days is too long in my book, to find out what the hell is going on.
This is a sporadic case and does not alter the current WHO risk assessment on NCoV but the new case does indicate that the virus is persistent http://www.who.int/csr/don/2013_02_11b/en/index.html
Here is a statement on the China 2, but I didn't see it on a WHO webpage.
(Central News Agency reporter Caoyu Fan Brussels 12 Mar) World Health Organization (WHO) said today that it has released a message in addition to the health sector of the Chinese mainland, there is no new cases of bird flu, the WHO continuous monitoring.. http://www.cna.com.tw/News/aOPL/201302120199-1.aspx
Middle east papers are talking about coronaboy, but they are the same reports. These people are flying all over the place and are well to do. They travel with impunity to these countries that have the virus floating around and I am gonna say it is from camels. Either way, we are not being told all the real truth on suspected cases or any progress on it. It is still an unknown vector, and will probably stay that way until one day, about 10 days after a traveler gets sick, you might hear about it.. after he flies home.. and coughs on a few hundred people with what he thinks is Swine Flu.
The fact that this guy has H1N1 and the new coronavirus is very bad news. I doubt he is or will be the only one.
Media reports on disease are more like a big circus act with juggling of facts, misdirection, flashy pictures and happy news thrown in the middle of it all.
One big circus for you to watch and enjoy.
