Meningitis cases on board ship in Italy

Meningitis cases on board the cruise ship MSC Orchestra have triggered alarm in Italy. Four crew members, who are suffering from bacterial meningitis had, on Sunday to be taken to the hospital in the Tuscan port city of Livorno. The state of a sick crew member is very serious.
"On the part of the shipping company have been taken all necessary steps to protect the health of passengers and crew members," assured the company that operates the ship, MSC Cruises. In collaboration with the Italian health authorities about the 3,000 passengers were aboard antibiotics as a precaution. No other member of the crew and passengers have since shown no symptoms. Medical experts are located on the ship of MSC Cruises, which are monitoring the situation closely.
The ship MSC Orchestra, which had arrived in Livorno on Sunday after a stage in Naples began on Sunday night continued his journey in Villefranche-sur-Mer in France. The ship will also hold Valencia and Ibiza, La Goulette (Tunisia), Catania and Naples.
